The Los Angeles County West Vector and Vector-Borne Disease Control District has received confirmation that a dead American crow collected in the City of Malibu has tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The cities of Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks have also recorded recent positive dead birds for the West Nile virus. This is an indication that the virus is active within the mosquito population in this area.
Residents are advised to immediately report any sighting of a dead
crow or other corvid (e.g., jay, magpie, raven, etc.) by calling 877-WNV-BIRD (968-2473).
